BIS Curriculum for 6th/7th/8th Grade
English Language Arts
The whole school district piloted different English Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum during the 2020-2021 school year. The district adopted StudySync for the middle school. Teachers have had training prior to the 2021-2022 school year, as well as ongoing professional development with StudySync.

Mathematics
The whole school district piloted math curriculum in the 2021-2022 school year. The district adopted Kendall Hunt’s Illustrative Math for the middle school. Illustrative Math offers a grade-level math and an accelerated math pathway. We ask students entering BIS to make a choice.
Science
The whole school district piloted Science curriculum in the 2021-2022 school year. The district adopted Amplify for the middle school. With Amplify Science California, students don’t just passively learn about science concepts. Instead, they take on the role of scientists and engineers to actively investigate and figure out real-world phenomena. They do this through a blend of cohesive and compelling storylines, hands-on investigations, collaborative discussions, literacy-rich activities, and interactive digital tools.
History/Social Studies
The whole school district piloted different History/Social Studies curriculum during the 2020-2021 school year. The district adopted McGraw-Hill CA Impact for the middle school in 2021-2022 along with the English Language Art curriculum.
